Get ready for an exclusive insight into the creative process behind the upcoming SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS album! In a recent interview, Todd Kerns, the bassist and backing vocalist, reveals that the band has already listened to the final mixes and the album sequence, and they've even chosen a title, but it's a secret for now! But here's where it gets exciting: the album is set to take a bold step, pushing the boundaries of what fans expect from the band. 'There's a couple of times where we get more fierce than we're known for,' Kerns teases, hinting at a more aggressive sound. And this is the part most people miss... 'Myles Kennedy, who also fronts ALTER BRIDGE, can kind of, like, 'Oh, he's taking the gloves off on this one.' I go, 'Okay.' Because he sort of comes from a very sort of... not 'controlled'; not the right word, but ALTER BRIDGE has a very sort of... I don't even know how I could put this in words, but it's so much more musical in a way.'
But what's the musical direction of this new album? Myles shares, 'It's definitely... The thing about that band is it's a certain approach that we keep consistent throughout. I don't think you're ever gonna get a record of synth pop, but it's because the fans expect a certain thing, and it's what we do. And so we try not to veer too far from that.' So, while the core sound remains familiar, there's a hint of something different on the horizon. And this is the part most people miss... 'But there's a couple of times where we get a little bit more fierce than I think we're kind of known for.'
The recording process has been a collaborative effort, with the band playing together and capturing drum performances, then replacing them. 'We always play together. The idea is the usual — playing together, trying to capture a drum performance, and then replacing… We did it pretty normally. We didn't get too jiggy with this and that.'
As for the album's release, it's set for 2027, and Slash promises a full-blown tour to follow. 'It's done. We just finished mixing it. I finished the sequence yesterday. It's a killer record, man. We're excited about it, but it doesn't come out till the GUNS tour's over. So it'll get released in probably January of 2027, and then there'll be a whole world tour that goes along with that.'
So, get ready for a fierce and musical journey with SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS! Will the new album live up to the band's reputation? Stay tuned, and let us know what you think in the comments!
